John F. X. Graham, Insurance Agency Chief Executive
Fairview Insurance Agency Associates was founded by Mr. Graham in 1970 and on July 22, 2020, the
agency celebrated its 50th year anniversary. Under his engaging leadership as CEO and President,
Fairview has been built around a responsive, family-atmosphere that prides itself on outstanding
service that makes clients feel part of the Fairview Family. Numerous Graham family members work at
the agency and the staff at Fairview regularly celebrate their individual 10th, 20th and 30th year
employment anniversaries.
Fairview is now a member agency of Foundation Risk Partners Corporation (FRP), the 19th largest
insurance brokerage in the United States. Fairview as a business unit has grown to over $300 million in
annual sales with offices in Verona and Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Graham is a licensed property,
casualty, life and health insurance producer, and is a leading industry figure. He has served in
leadership positions for trade organizations and corporations like the President’s Advisory Council of
the Professional Insurance Agents Association (1970’s), and previously has been a member of the Agents’ Advisory Council of Aetna Insurance
Company (1980’s), the Advisory Board of Summit Trust Corp., and the Board of Directors of the International School of Commerce (1980’s). Graham
has time tested experience developing national specialty insurance programs for businesses such as equipment dealers, automobile dealers and
public entities.
The FRP Fairview Insurance Family is run by one guiding principle: treat others as you wish to be treated with kindness and respect. Throughout the
year 2020, Fairview maintained its entire staff, allowed every employee to work remotely and held bi-weekly zoom calls to check on the staff’s health
and well- being. Graham personally spoke to all employees, not just as a boss, but as a friend.
Born in 1948 and raised in Philadelphia, Graham was a public-school teacher in the Philadelphia School District before founding Fairview. His love of
teaching then led him to be an insurance instructor at the International School of Commerce and Rutgers University (1970’s).
Separate from Fairview, Graham has also dedicated his life to being an active member of his community. In 2016, he was named Man of the Year by
the New Jersey American Cancer Society and received “The Good Guy” award from NJ State Woman Caucus. Since 2017, Graham has been capital
campaign supporter of the Cooperman Family Pavilion at RWJ Barnabas Health Medical Center. He has volunteered his time to non-profit
organizations like serving on the Board of Directors of the Karen Ann Quinlan Center of Hope (1980’s), and has been a member of local, statewide and
national charitable organizations such as Soup Kitchen 411/Feed NJ, Garden State Equality and the African American Chamber of Commerce. Graham
was on the Board of Commissioners and Trustees for the New Jersey Hall of Fame from 2011 to 2014. In 2018, along with his partner, Ms. Jane Barr,
he was given the Power Couple Civic & Community Leader Award by Emerge New Jersey/Women Leaders. Graham was also involved with his
children’s sports teams, serving as coach numerous times. For Graham, he understands that nothing can be accomplished without the support of
family and community.
Graham has been recognized for his distinguished sense of good public policy. He has been called on to advise elected officials and candidates on
both sides of the aisle. In 2015, Graham was presented with the Essex County Democratic Committee Hall of Fame Award by Chairman Leroy Jones,
Jr. He has served as National Finance Co-Chair for Hillary Clinton for President and State Director for John Kerry for President. Graham worked on and
was a finance committee member for the election campaigns of NJ Governors John Corzine and Phil Murphy, and Senator Robert Menendez, and was
a political advisor to the elections of Senator Cory Booker, Congressman William Pascrell II, Mikie Sherrill, Tom Malinowski, Amy Kennedy & Josh
Gottheimer. Graham is a member of the Democratic National Committee and serves as a Super Delegate. Throughout 2020, Graham served on NJ
Governor Murphy’s State Reopening Committee. He was most recently awarded membership to The National Council on White House History. He is
also the publisher for Insider NJ, an award- winning political website, and from 2019 to 2021, Graham was honored as one of the top NJ Irish Leaders.
Graham holds a master’s degree in education from Temple University, a bachelor’s degree in management from LaSalle University, and a doctorate-
of-law, honorary degree from Rabbinical College of America, Morristown, NJ.
Phillip Sellinger, a longtime friend of Graham, at a reception said, “Without question, John is a force of nature and is larger than life. His compassion
for every person; his love for his family; his unwavering commitment to serving his community and to smart, good and sensible government; and his
ability to connect in a meaningful way to everyone who comes in contact with him, is truly remarkable.”
Mr. Graham and his deceased wife Janet had lived in Livingston for over 40 years where they raised their three children, Ryan, Michael, and Lindsay.
Today, John is the proud grandfather of Madison, Mason, Cooper, Conner, Liam, Emma, and Chase.
